Dear visitors,

Considering this blog, I would like to know your thinking, feeling and sensing about Graphic Design. It does not matter you are still a student or you are a designer.

A lot of graphic works are made by simple geometry shape.
Like a square, a circle, a triangle and a cross, what is your favorite geometry shape? What is your personal explanation or evaluation about each shape?

Which geometry shape do you always use as a basic element in your design works?
Do these shapes work under your control? And how about their work?

Do you think the simple geometry shapes are the elements of visual language?
Could you give any explanation about you agree or not?

I would like to get the comments, replies and feedbacks from all of you.

Thank you very much!

From October 21 through October 29, 2006, Eindhoven will be the inspiring platform for the fifth large-scale annual Dutch Design Week.

The theme of Dutch Design Week 2006 will be ’The power of creativity’. For nine days, the public will be able to visit exhibitions, attend lectures and become acquainted with the latest products and developments in the field of design.

Both established designers and newcomers use the Dutch Design Week to show their work and introduce their ideas to the public. Through exhibitions, company visits, symposiums, and workshops the different facets of contemporary Dutch design will be revealed: from process to product, from industrial design to applied art.

One Utrecht School of the Arts, five faculties

- Visual Arts and Design
- Music
- Theatre
- Art, Media & Technology
- Art and Economics

Utrecht School of the Arts (HKU) is one of the largest institutes of higher education for art and culture. The school consists of five faculties, which together offer around 100 courses. Each faculty is different, but in many aspects each faculty is also clearly part of the HKU.

Each faculty has its own place (literally and metaphorically) and its own atmosphere, which is clearly recognisable in the faculty buildings.

One thing that characterises all the faculties is the exceptionally high level of the education. Each HKU teacher – in whatever faculty – is a highly driven expert in his or her specialist area.

And each faculty at the HKU has one important objective – to impart sufficient knowledge and experience to students to enable them to flourish in the world of art and culture.
